Perfect week-end for David Gonzaléz

Last week-end the small city of Oeiras in the Lisbon area hosted the grand prix of Portugal. 8 teams and 49 players from 5 different countries were taking part. In the open category, David Gonzaléz was the only spanish players in the last 4 but he managed to beat Portuguese legend Filipe Maia in the semi and Nuno Noronha in the final to claim the trophy. It was a perfect week-end for Gonzaléz who also won the U19 tournament and the team event as Tiburones beat the Portuguese team of GRD 1º Maio Tires in the final. In the other youth sections, Vasco Henriques was the best U12 player while Ricardo José won the U15 group stage. In the veterans, Filipe Maia took a revenge as he beat another Tiburones player, António Montaño, to win the final.

Filipe Maia and Tiburones players take the honors in Tires

The International Open of Tires took place on January 25 and 26 in Portugal with a good field of players from the home country and from Spain. Int he Open category, it was a surprising final beteen the "old" Filipe Maia and the "young" António Casín. The player of CCT Roma took the honors and won 2-0. António Casín later beat David González in the U19 final while Jesus Moreno, also from Tiburones, won the U15 section. António Montaño from Spain beat clubmate Nuno Noronha to win the veterans final. The team event was played as a group of five team and the A-team of Tiburones FM won all their games to win the title.

Barros and Maia are the winners in Porto

The Satellite of Porto (Portugal) took place on December 8 with a small turnout of nine players. The Open category was very interesting to follow with many close games. Vítor Barros (GDDF) managed to beat Ricardo Barros in the semi-final and Paulo Laranjeira (Orfeao da Foz do Douro) in the final. In the veterans section, Filipe Maia (CCT Roma) was the top favorite. He beat João Rodrigues (Orfeao da Foz do Douro) in the final to win the title.
